These solvents are only effective for surface foams and not for dispersed foams.

(3) Reducing foam stability can be accomplished by increasing surface tension, reducing surface viscosity, or reducing hydrogen bonding.
 (4) The antifoaming agent may contain a hydrophobic solid which can form a local weak point or a low surface tension point. Foam bubbles with weak points are easily broken.
